AC A340-500?

Sun Mar 30, 2003 2:14 am

Now that I have seen AC's A345 on here, does anyone know
what route it will be put on?

YYZ-NRT v.v. daily effective June 1st.

AC has 2 345's on order. Both are required exclusively to operate the daily YYZ-NRT since each leg is ~13 hours.

Crew familiarity flights on YYZ-YUL are likely prior to June 1st.

Will those "crew familiarization flights" be revenue flights?

Yes, they would just substitute one of the AC 32x rapidairs for the 345 for instance on an ad hoc basis so the pilots can build up their rotations.

The 345 could also show up on some long haul routes prior to the YYZ-NRT June 1st official sked.

This assumes, of course, that AC is still around on June 1st!

Are there any new features in either J or Y class on this plane? It sure looks great. Looks like a 777 with an A340

The 500's will feature the "new" Executive Class with the new (almost" flat bed seats and upgraded IFE features I have also heard that they will have PTV's in Y but dont know if that is for sure....

The line-indoc will most likely be conducted on Atlantic crossings, I would imagine the -500 will sub in for an a340 or 747 to LHR or FRA from time to time between April and June..you cant really get much of a checkout on a 55 min hop between YZ and UL...

On a side not I head that one of the 340's, I thin A/C 905 will be getting the new Star Alliance colours soon...
