Any New Airlines Coming?

Thu Nov 25, 1999 9:32 am

Does anyone know if there are any new US airlines (besides Jet Blue) in the works?
Just kind of curious.

Crystal Airways @ crystalairways.com
Legend Airlines @ legendairlines.com
Cardinal Airlines @ cardinalairlines.com

-These site URL's might be slightly off. You might want to add fly or air to some of the addresses (ie. flylegend, cardinalair, etc)

On another note, Coast Airlines (formerly AirPDX) could not get funding and pulled their application.

Good Luck!

Onieda Airlines. I can try to get more info on it, but right now the plan is for it to be an airline that connects upstate New York cities (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Albany, Watertown, ect.) to NYC (not sure which airport). It will be based out of Utica, New York. Hopefully, I can get some more info on this soon.

Yes, In Fact!

LOTS. There's Crystal Airways, Legend Airlines, Cardinal Airlines, and Onieda Airlines for the near future.
For the later future, there's Academy Airlines, Trans Caribbean Airways, and Trans Pacific Airlines.

Ozarks Return

Sat Nov 27, 1999 5:21 am

Ozark airlines is making its return in the near future, if it hasnt already done so. This time they will be based out of Columbia Missouri, and will fly the brand new Dornier 328JET. As of now I believe they have two on order and maybe they have recieved them by now. The first few routes they will fly will be Columbia to Chicago and Columbia to Dallas. There is an unofficial website for the airline, it shows their brand new 328 being built.

Neat website! Question: What progam did you use to generate the pictures of your aircraft?

Not doubting you or anything, just curious... how can you tell it's a hoax? I've seen their website once, but I guess I never paid too much attention...

For carriers to be licensed in the USA they must file an applications with the DOT. These applications are online and can be found in the web (dms.dot.gov). Cardinal Airlines has submitted the papers. You can do a Docket search this way:

Agency: OST
Category: Licence
Subcat.: U.S. Air Carrier Interstate Certificate

Do it for year 1999 and you see what's new. Includes JetBlue Airways, Wrangell Mountain Air, and pending cases for Ozark and Cardinal, etc.

Have fun.

FYI,
Ozark is having problems getting a lease with the City of Dallas for space at Love Field. Seems the Wright Amendment is an issue, even though Ozark's 37-seaters meet the 56-seat requirement. With all the Love litigation going on, it may be awhile before it gets settled..

I am convinced now, that Cardinal is real, but as far as Crystal goes...it is a BIG hoax!

--look at their plan. Operating 757-300's, -200's, and 717's in an all first-class layout?! It would work if you had 34" pitch like Midwest Express, but they are talking about putting an EXTREMELY small amount of pax. on each plane, while keeping costs competitive!?! I would love to see that fly, especially since every other all-FC airline other than Midwest Express have floped!

--their CEO--he's about 14 or 15 years old judging by the way he responds to questions and writes. E-mail him, and then you'll see what I mean.

Its Not A Hoax, And Yes More Airlines Are Coming!

Sun Nov 28, 1999 12:49 pm

OK, we know Crystal was a hoax, but as for Cardinal Airlines they are very real I was reading an article from CNN that they are starting service from Melbourne, FL (about an hour away from where i live) and are going begin service to Baltimore, MD!--that sounds like a dead route if ive ever heard of one!--Anyways Legend Airlines is starting service from Dallas/Love Field to various cities, visit the web-page: www.legendairlines.com they are going to start online bookings in January! Thats It, I also heard Richard Branson wants to start an "american" version of Virgin Atlantic--I hope he does, I also heard John Travolta is planning on starting one also!!!

Crystal Airways/DL 604

Heheh. Brandon, looks like you've got some competition, man. Crystal sounds like TPA! But at least you aren't running a hoax website.

Midwest Express is actually all business class, and their seat pitch seems a bit on the tight side. I think their largest DC-9s and MD-80s hold over 100 pax, and my first flights with them were pretty much booked solid. Surely there is a demand for more airlines like YX. Does anyone know if any of these start-ups will offer a similar product and service to YX?

About two years ago I heard that a new Swiss airline, called Lémanair, wants to offer business flights from Geneva, Switzerland.

Any details ???

As far as I know they have already taken delivery of their two 328JET (they have three options left) and they have started service about two-a-half months ago.

YX's seat pitch is pretty tight, especially when they are a "business class" airline...only 34" of pitch.

As far as the other airlines, Legend (out of DAL) is to be a much nicer airline, with their DC-9-30's carrying only 56 passengers (about 60 seats cut out). Compared to Legend, YX is a sardine can!
