Bye-Bye Buzz And Go-Fly

Mon Mar 31, 2003 8:56 pm

Yesterday we said goodbye to the 'Go Flight' Callsign and go flight codes and today we also say goodbye to and buzz and there use of the 'ukay' callsign.

Good luck to all the buzz employees and also for all go employees now under easyjet management.

The Go employees were probably very lucky with easyJet taking them over, with the majority of their routes out of STN, it complements the services already being offered by EZY out of other airports. It's the buzz employees I feel sorry for. Originally working for Air UK, then KLM uk, then Buzz. I think they have been right royally shafted.

Like Stelios once said: ...so they can both buzz off and go......

And so they did. With a little help from Stelios himself too.

Indeed both carriers are now gone as consolidation hits the low-cost carriers. Certainly Go had a better deal as easyjet took over most of its network and stations - although some parallel services were axed and some of the old Go fleet may be lost. Nonetheless Go's network was largely left intact. Buzz, on the other hand, has been completely dismembered by Ryanair whose more aggressive posturing has left many stranded - not only in terms of holding tickets but also those who bought properties in some French cities served by buzz which are now left without service.
