British Airways has announced a decrease in overall load factor of 4.2% to 65.4%
The airline carried 6.1% / 193 000 less passengers in the month - 2 978 000 in total. Asia Pacific and Africa and the Middle East were worst hit with a 25.6% and 15.1% decrease respectively in passenger numbers. In Europe and the Americas, passenger numbers decreased 3.4% and 6.9% respectively.
Revenue passenger kilometres fell 11.4% with Asia Pacific taking a 26.9% decrease. RPK to Europe, the Americas and Africa and the Middle East were less affected with RPK decreasing 7.2%, 7.7% and 9% respectively.
Capacity to all regions bar the Americas decresed. Asia Pacific, Europe and Africa and the Middle East saw a 17.5%, 2.5% and 0.6% capacity decrease respectively. The Americas saw a capacity increase which was not matched by a passenger number and RPK increase. Capacity went up 1.6% to that region. Total capacity fell 3.1%.
Passenger load factor fell 6.6% and all regions experienced a decrease. Asia Pacific and the Americas sufferred the worst with a 9.2% and 7.2% load factor decrease while Africa and the Middle East and Europe saw a 6.3% and 3.1% load factor decrease respectively.
Cargo tonne kilometre fell 4%, total revenue tonne kilometre fell 9.5% and cargo capacity fell 3.7%.
