Qantas Reschedule HKG Flights

Fri Apr 04, 2003 7:34 pm

QANTAS has rescheduled the HKG flights:

BNE-HKG
QF85 services suspended

PER-SIN-HKG
QF 77 services suspended since 5 April

MEL-HKG
QF83 rescheduled as QF183:
0840-1820 via MNL

SYD-HKG
QF127 rescheduled:
1045-1935 via MNL

QF187
2220-0830 via MNL, services will be suspended on 7 April

***************
QF88 was held at the airport tarmac yesterday as a passenger onboard shows SARS-like symptoms. Fortunately all passengers are cleared and are permitted to enter Melbourne.

***************
Hope the SARS will die away soon, but it takes time for the aviation/tourism industry to recover.

This was reported already but shit it's like every other post on a.net now is about an airline cutting HKG flights.  Sad

SARS is not going to go away any time soon, it's already a worldwide epidemic.

It is NOT an epidemic! There are 3 billion people in Asia and 2000 people have it. More people die of normal pneumonia in any given month. The cure rate is 96%. The people who died had complicated medical histories, or were old.

STOP THE PANIC!

Yes Doc, it's technically an epidemic (albeit a small one in global terms). Despite the 5% mortality rate & the fact that just a fraction of the world's population has been infected, It's spreading extensively throughout the world.

Don't worry; I'm not in a panic-struck state or anything. About half the population of HK has donned masks & some people are even wearing gloves when they go out. What’s next? Will Hong Kong people resort to wearing bio-warefare suits? Big grin

My fear is the fact that perhaps some countries are under-reporting cases to the WHO for fear of damage to their tourism industry... let us not forget that they have now traced the outbreak in China back to Nov 2002 - but nothing was done about it.
