BA Suspends Birmingham-Amsterdam

Wed Apr 09, 2003 12:17 am

Hot on the heals of the Belfast Int'l service, British Airways franchise partner Maersk Air UK Ltd will discontinue services from Birmingham to Amsterdam. Specific flights will be cancelled between 12 and 18 April before all services are discontinued effective 19 April.

I was going to book this flight for the 14th of April! Is it because they're not getting enough passengers?

Maersk will be operating flights:
BA8336/7 14/15/16/18 April

Flights from 19 Apr Onwards
All Maersk Air flights between BHX/AMS are cancelled.

To be honest I think the company is going through all its operations after its MBO. Amsterdam did OK with loads but not with profitabilty.

How many daily flights did they do? Three?
Wonder if KLM will increase from their current 7 daily flights.

We probably have to thank MyTravel Lite for this (now twice daily on weekdays).

BTW the flights were 3x on weekdays

Wonder if KLM will increase from their current 7 daily flights.

Probably not (again thanks to MyTravel Lite)

Maersk are cutting 2 CRJs from the fleet which explains the withdrawal from Amsterdam (which still has nine daily flights with A320s and F100s), and Belfast, which is still served by FlyBe and MyTravel Lite.
