Gulf Air to increase Oman flights

Gulf Air is to increase its frequency to Seeb International Airport to 100 flights a week by the end of this month, according to Malik bin Sulaiman Al Maamari, Oman's Minister of Transport and Telecommunications.

An agreement has also been reached with aviation authorities in Britain to operate an experimental direct flight to London from Muscat.

"The Gulf Air management has achieved a qualitative transformation despite the market situation and circumstances in the region. The three owners have lent all out support to the carrier."

James Hogan, Gulf Air's chief executive, said the launch of the new commercial identity reflected the serious changes being carried out at all levels to overcome unprecedented challenges and continue operations despite the war in Iraq.

The airline will hold talks with the Indian civil aviation authorities to get access to more destinations there. He also added that a new route to Sydney with connection to Athens was on the anvil.
