Major Airlines Missing 744 Or 777 Fleets

Fri Apr 11, 2003 5:06 pm

I'm wondering why some major airlines such as Alitalia, American, Delta, Emirates, etc. are missing the 744. China Airlines, Lufthansa, etc. are missing the 777 as well.

It is interesting to note that Thai Airways has the most complete and diverse wide-bodied aircraft fleet (330, 345, 346, 744, 772, 773, M11) to date. I don't know if they're going after the 380 or not.

I change your topic into: Why are some major airlines don´t have A330/340 fleets?

Airlines will mostly buy what suits them best, and not for every airline the B777 is the perfect fit, and not for every airline the A330/340 is the best fit. The B747-400 might be too large for some carriers, others might find it to be too small.

Thai might have the most diverse fleet, which adds a huge chunk to their repair and maintaing costs!

As mentioned by Flying Tiger, an airline knows what is best for themselves, and 777 and 747s are not essentials in any airline.
