Delta Air Lines Reports Q1 Loss Of US$466 Million

Thu Apr 17, 2003 10:24 pm

Delta Air Lines has reported a Q1FY2003 loss of US$466 000 000 or US$3.81 a share compared to Q1FY2002's loss of US$397 000 000 or US$3.25 a share.

Fewer passengers and higher fuel prices accounted for the rise in the loss.

Fuel costs helped operating expenses rise 4.3% and the war in Iraq and the time leading up to the war would cost the ailrine $125 000 000 in lost revenue.

Delta Air Lines has just launched its low cost airline named Song and is a member of the KrisFlyer frequent flyer program operated by Singapore Airlines.

Well, that's a terrible result, but I was actually fearing much worse. Does this include write down costs for the 727s retired this term?
