Praise For The CRJ

Sat Apr 19, 2003 3:26 am

Ya know, it's not often that we look around and truly appreciate the technological marvels that we are fortunate to have us zipping around the world in such comfort and luxury.

Just the other day, I was on a SkyWest CRJ from San Francisco to Sacramento for the 40-minute [block time] flight. I cannot tell you how nice it was to begin boarding so quickly, have the convenience of dropping off my bags at the base of the stairs only to re-appear once I deplaned, and walk down the aisle standing straight up to find my seat. Quite an improvement over the EMB-120, if you ask me.

For the 50 of us on UA6762, it truly was going to be an enjoyable flight. Once the doors were closed, the engines began to spool up ever so quietly as we gently rocked forward, taxying out to runway 1R. Aside from the runway lights and terminals being thrown past our windows faster and faster, you could not tell by the sound of the engines that we were taking off. They were at a constant low hum, nothing bad, nothing out of the ordinary, and they remained that way for the duration of the flight. The air valves overhead as well as the air system in general spewed fresh, cold air, but very quietly at that.

Our landing in Sacramento couldn't have been smoother and deplaining couldn't have been any quicker. The flight in general could not have been any better.

Thank you Bombardier/Canadair for your wonderful CRJ; quiet, efficient and quick in all aspects truly makes this aircraft a benchmark in standards for air travel today.

Second that here 777! QX is very happy with the CR7, with a very good review. Crews love to fly them. Its been hard to sell passengers on it at first, but once they try it there are no complaints.
The CR7 has had a little bad rap with maintance though, just this morning we too a 2 hr. delay for a valve the computer could not decide was open or closed. Thats seem to be the rap on just the -700 only. AS739X at SFO

I took my first CRJ flight (ROC-IAD) in February. It wasn't bad at all. What I REALLY wanna try is a 328JET, though...

328's are VERY nice, as well...unbelievably quiet and offer great views with the high wing design. The cabin seems smaller than the EMB-120, for some reason...

Glad to see praise for the CRJ with people fawning all over the EMB products. The CRJ is a better built and a tougher airplane than the E135/140/145 series. At ACA we have both the CRJ and The FRJ. I like the FRJ for the climbout but not for the cruise. You cannot go wrong with the CRJ, good climbout and good cruise too extremely good parts to a solid airplane.

if you ever do fly the 328jet, hold on during takeoff. that plane climbs like a rocket. a friend of mine flies them for aca and she says that atc often has to limit their climbs because they climb too fast for atc to keep up with them, the only problem, once there are at cruise, they are slow.

Being a Montrealer, I welcome your good comments on this Montreal built aircraft.

I had the pleasure of flying both the CRJ and ERJ and not only does my heart lean towards the CRJ, but also I sincerely think it’s a better aircraft. Sorry for all those ERJ lovers on the board.

For some reason, the CRj gives a bigger sense of "integrity" . It's a feeling very difficult to explains, but I feel more comfortable in a CRJ than ina an ERJ. Shame that the CRJ's windows are so low! I'm 6'2" and I have to make a lot of "contorsions" to look through the window Big grin. I always end with pains in the neck =(

My order of preference is as follows:

FRJ (goooooooooood views!!)
CRJ (integral solid jet!!!!!!!!!!)
ERJ (not bad, but...............)

I wanna fly on the CRJ. It's a pity we don't operate them here in Australia any longer  Sad it's my favourite regional airliner.

Where are the Kendell examples now? There were 11 of them, right?

I'd take the EMB-120 over both the CRJ and ERJ. The noise and bumps and vibration all give it character. It's not just another run of the mill twinjet. UAX carriers are dumping their props like hot potatoes. I now have to go all the way to CA just to nonrev on a propjob. Pretty soon that will be gone too Sad

Yeah Kendell used to operate a fair few of them, i think the total was more than 11 actually. As far as i know they've all left the country and are now back in Canada in storage or flying for another operator. I wish REX(Regional Express) got some, they would look great in their livery.
