I flew on that bird on March 7, 2002 just before they sent it out to the desert. ILFC owns it...and Aer Lingus I believe are still the registered airline that owns it......It might be coming back to service in the foreseeable future as Aer Lingus are looking to expand their US destinations - the Irish Times have been quoted as saying they want to fly to Denver, San Francisco, St. Louis and some other US cities. The problem is of course the bi-lateral agreement between USA/Ireland and the SNN
stopover....once that mess is cleared up - it could be soon?! - you will see EI
-SHN back in the air.
Do I think DEN
, and STL
are good moves? NO....not at all..... Irish travellers are big into sun destinations right now....Aer Lingus have opened up so many new routes over the past year to BCN
, and just the other day announced PMI
.....I think that MCO
/Carribean routes could sustain twice/thrice weekly services and be profitable.
-SHN will be back though....in the green....or maybe that awful new aerlingus.com scheme
