Anyone ever flown or even heard of Allegiant Air? I just heard they started service from LGB to SMF and SLC. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

What do you want to know about them. They are based in Fresno CA (FAT) and started charter flights about 1-1/2 years about with a single DC9-21 (N127NK). Last June they started scheduled service to South Lake Tahoe from BUR, LAS, and FAT. They recently dropped the TVL service to start the flights at LGB. Currently they have 1 DC9-21 and 1 DC9-51 (N410EA) with 2 more DC9-51's on the way. There are some photos on airliners.net. Just try searching for Allegiant Air as the keyword. Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Allegiant Air is trying to get off the ground. They used to fly to TVL (Lake Tahoe?) until Tahoe Air pushed them out. Apparently, Allegiant is doing fairly well on their LGB-LAS route. I think they have 2 or 3 flights per day. They just picked up a DC-9 from TWA I believe. They are very small (2 or 3 planes), but I hope they do better than WinAir did out of LGB. Word has it that Allegiant is going to start some of the old WinAir routes (SLC, SMF and others) as well. Please let the LGB curse pass without taking Allegiant Air with it. Their website is at www.allegiantair.com

FlyGGA,
Thanks for the info. I hope they can do well at LGB. Ever since WinAir went bankrupt, it seems like LGB has been looking for another carrier to pick up the slack. I understand they applied for 15 slots at LGB. Is this true?
