Is TWA to become a lone niche carrier with one (huge!) hub at St. Louis, similar to smaller carriers such as Southwest? As far as I am aware, TWA's international route network is far from what it used to be & it has not alligned itself with any alliance as such or other carriers? The TWA 800 accident and the dominance of UA/AA/DL/NW & more and more CO across TWA's old stomping ground - the north Atlantic, seem to relegate TW to a low level carrier, it also to my knowledge has retired all it's big widebody capacity, it's B747's & L1011's?
So what is to become of this once great carrier (was it ever?), they certainly seemed to have finally got themselves a good CEO & management team - but is this enough with only one major hub? Is JFK still a major port for TWA? Have they learnt the lessons of Pan Am?
I would be interested in your thoughts! Cheers.
