I have to work tomorrow, so I'll get to see the first flights into ATL. Not sure if I'll have time to snap any shots of them though. I think JetBlue ought to send Song Sung Blue in as the first a/c into ATL, that would be very funny!

You've got to love the headline of their press release: "JetBlue to Launch Atlanta Service with a Song". Neeleman to Mullin: bring it on.

No one here knows where they're going to park either. I've heard several rumors, one had them on the T-Gates another had them on D and the last had them on E.

Somewhere D1-10 for sure. Their bagage will be in the south bagage claim.

How did B6 get gates in ATL? I thought FL was snapping up any that became available.

They could be subleasing them from FL. AirTran has the last four gates on D-South, but two of those gates are also used by DAL Global Services to handle several other airlines (ironically, DAL Global Services is owned by Delta).

Delta declared war on jetBlue - as a result B6 has entered the ATL market, congratulations to DAL!!! If B6 also starts OAK/FLL/IAD/JFK-ATL services, then DAL gets an even more serious problem. And if DAL reacts with Song in these markets, then they will completely weaken their mainline service...
The question is how long loss-making DAL can sing its Song...

AirTran doesn't "own" any of the gates on D. We can be removed from them at any time if needed. The only one that we're least likely to lose would be D4. The other night they needed D2, and D1 and 3,5,7,9 were all in use. So we were forced to relocate the DC-9/717 flights to C concourse and the RJs were all on D4.
D1 - D10 are all city gates and can be used by any carrier provided they file all the paperwork and all that.

My guess is they use D5, their schedule works almost perfectly with Frotier's they'd be out of the gate before Frontier came in, although I'm not sure about the EMO for F9.

if the flight leaves atl at 7p, they will have left lgb already. They will need two aircraft to fly the route.

First outbound flight today is the 2:55pm departure. They're using D5 as the outbound gate.
The inbound flight is flight 9001 from JFK estimating into ATL at 12:01 pm. Arrival gate is D2, but they WILL depart from D5.

Flairport,
The 1st *ATL-LGB* flight arrives at 4:45 today. (Flight 284) That plane is N558JB "Song Sung Blue". The 1st *LGB-ATL* was "Blue Ribbon". The big celebration (Mayor of Long Beach, Neeleman, etc) is when the 1st ATL-LGB flight arrives today.

This is what this does for the Consumer:

I need to fly to Atlanta, I live in San Diego. From SAN to ATL on DL with a 7 day notice all time slots were in the $1,100.00 range.

From SNA (about 15 miles drive from Long Beach and usually a premium Airport that commands a higher airfare) the same exact flight cost $234.00!

I'm driving to Santa Ana just to beat them at their own little game.

so, was he on the charter to ATL as well as the flight to LGB?

By the way, this was probably one of the few times that every passenger knows that this is a special flight. Nobody around here has ever heard of jetBlue, so there were no "Oh, I didn't know this was their first flight"s! I wish i didn't have school! I'd have been on that flight!

any a.net people on board any LGB-ATL, ATL-LGB, FLL-LGB or tonights redeye LGB-FLL?
