Man, if that flight is delayed much past 12:00pm, we might see some problems with takeoff performance....

I always thought that this flight was going to be on a 764. I looked up the flight on Travelocity and it showed equipment as 767 and not 767-400. Maybe it's just a glitch.

Actually it looks like this is going to be operated by 767-300 aircraft and I'd assume it's going to have to be an ER. Are they going to use the international configuration with business class, or are they going to reconfigure some to domestic config.?

The flight will be operated by a 763ER for 1 month.

In september, the modified 764ERs will pick up the route as expected.

ConcordeBoy,

How you thought know that about DL aircraft on B763ER out of ATL-HNL flight? Also, will used on the B764 on the this route to Hawaii flight. I'm glad to hear was came back with nonstop from ATL-HNL flight again. It was stopped from 2 or 3 years ago after L1011s is retired.

762er,

No, DL was doesn't want need reconfigure with those seat on the plane. It just only for the same number of those passengers. I just knew that about on B764 will need installed for the crew rest soon. I just heard about it for myself. Well, talk ya later!

Regards!

Simple, DL's own website.
Even the August flight numbers reflect BizE service:

For August 2003:
ATL-HNL, DL91, 767-300ER, BE+Y
ATL-HNL, DL92, 767-300ER, BE+Y

Starting September 2003:
ATL-HNL, DL317, 767-400ER, F+Y
HNL-ATL, DL316, 767-400ER, F+Y

Maybe flying this long route with an "international" configured aircraft is not such a bad idea......CO has had sucess with a similiar approach using Business First configuration on its EWR/IAH/LAX to HNL flights, and now the IAH to OGG flight. Due the 763s have appropriate crew rest facilities, I would assume they do as 9 to 10 hour transatlantic flights are not unusual for the 763 on DL's route system......say JFK to Moscow, Atlanta to Paris, etc.? Are the economics of an international configuration 763 that different from the 764?

Will the SLC-HNL service continue? ATL-SLC-HNL was "substituted" for the ATL-HNL nonstop when the L10s were retired.

According to the Press release, the SLC-HNL will continue. I hope it does, although it's hard to get on flight #252 from SLC. It's always full and it's usually $100- $200 more to fly non-stop instead of making a 1 stop through LAX or SFO for those of us here in SLC.

I thought DL didn't have insurance on the 767-300 to do pacific ops? From what I remember, the only a/c that can be scheduled pacific were the -400s and the MD11. Maybe they made a short term deal with their insurance carrier? They really needed this flight back.

Hopefully DL won't have the same problems CO did with their 764 on the EWR-HNL route. I guess the flight is a bit shorter, so that should help. Didn't CO switch to a 762?

I believe that EWR-HNL-EWR is operated with a CO 764, IAH-HNL-IAH is also a 764 route, though CO did use 777s for one season and I believe that the 777 is returning this summer.
