SQ From SIN-BWN On A320s?

Fri May 09, 2003 8:26 am

Hi people:

I just saw on SQ's web site schedules, that on/from June 30, 2003 onwards, 3 of their weekly flights to Bandar Seri Begawan (BWN) is being operated by Airbus A320s!! Those days are Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays, and on other days by B777-200s. Clicking on one of those flight details even reveals it's a 3-class layout for the so-called A320s! The same thing happened when I checked on Amadeus

Now, since when did SQ have A320s? Or are they leasing/buying any soon? Or could it be just from MI, on loan to SQ?... If it's from MI, then I'm sure it'll definitely not have 3 classes on it?...

Anyone knows anything about this?

This was discussed......SQ will be using Silkair A320s on certain routes on certain days, such as BWN, due to the SARS crisis and downturn in traffic combined with the A310s being retired from service.

I think that would be Silkair as SQ have never operated A320s.

Hmmm... so they'll sit the First and Business pax in the same cabin on the 320s? From what I know, SilkAir only have two classes... so I am wondering how they are going to fit the top two classes into the front cabin!

And will they be using SQ or SilkAir stewardess?

BWN is supposedly two-class but operated with 3-class A310s, however First or Raffles is blocked off. Can't remember which.

The A320s are from Silkair, operated by SilkAir crew under SQ flight number. Sort of like a wet-leasing deal.

In the CRS you can book, F, C and Y and the SQ flights are still loaded with 313.

Operating a 777 between SIN and BWN? I think the RBA 763 is already far to big, not only to SIN, also to KUL. I already flew SQ and BI on SIN-BWN and BI on BWN-KUL vv. There was always a low seat factor. Guess the reason to fly there is more political than economical.
