Air Atlanta Livery

Tue May 13, 2003 1:22 am

Seems no aircraft is left in Air Atlanta´s fleet that carries a proper livery. Look at these recent pictures. Why don´t they at least fly all in pure white. This is a mess and shouts out: no money, no style. I know they are known for good quality ad-hoc charters, but as a passenger I would be disturbed to fly "no name".

When their airline customers request charter services for back up, they don't want someone else's name on the plane. Air Atlanta then either paints it over or just doesn't bother with it at all. You'll find this on several of these airlines: World Airways, Atlas Air for Cargo... its not worth it to paint a plane because sooner or later, its gonna have to get repainted.

Air Atlanta is primarily an ACMI air carrier, leasing airplanes to other airlines...
If an airline leases an airplane from Air Atlanta for a day or a week, they dont want another name of logo on these airplanes... if the lease it long-term, the air carrier will request partial of full paint of company name and logos...

Does any body know what contracts Air Atlanta is flying thses days? They recently leased 4 B747-200F from GECAS.
3 B747-200F are flying for MASKargo, and the contract with Nigeria airways was broken.

Air Atlanta Icelandic lease a number of aircraft to UK operators, most notibly 747-200's for Virgin Atlantic to use on the MAN-MCO route, and this year Excel Airways also have a number of 757's and 767's on lease from Air Atlanta.

Air Atlanta's main business is leasing out their a/c to other airlines, so why should they care about style ?.

As most of their a/c are bought from other airlines, they don't bother to re-paint them as it costs money and most of the time the a/c are only leased out for a few weeks so what's the point in re-painting which in itself takes time meaning the a/c is out of service. As long as it flies safely from A-B, who gives a cr@p what colour it is. A majority of airlines colour schemes are white anyway. If it's a long term lease all they then need to do is apply titles to the aircraft which only take a few hours to stick on and re-paint the tail.

In the case of the 2 aircraft flying for VS (TF-ATN and TF-ATW), they are still owned by VS, just transferred onto Air Atlanta's AOC. These aircraft came straight from VS service so did not need to be re-painted do thats why they are in full colours.

I would be more "disturbed" to fly on some "named" airlines, rather than on Air Atlanta.
