B777/B764 Design Question

Tue May 13, 2003 1:18 pm

Why did Boeing not offer "winglets" on these two aircraft as they did on the NG737's. I know the B764 has a modified wing that helps reduce vorticies and induced drag, as do winglets. So why was nothing offered on the 777?

Quite simply because its wing design is too advanced to need them... therefor making them deadweights.

If it's of any comfort, both 777NGs feature the 764ER's raked wingtips
