Snba - Finally To... Tel Aviv.

Wed May 14, 2003 8:15 pm

Hi Friends,

I just got the following mail from SNBA that as from June 4,2003 SNBA is starting their flights to TLV.
Me, as a Belgian citizen living in Israel I am very very happy about that after so long that no Belgian carrier was seen here in TLV.

I would like to ask if there is anyone here that has a good contact with SNBA management in Brussels and could arrange me a special entrance to the "First Welcome" of this carrier to TLV when it will be landing in TLV.

I assume that there will be a kind of party for journalists and so.

Anyone could help me please? Please send me an e-mail (you can find it in my profile).

This is what they mailed to me -

SN Brussels Airlines is to open up new flights to Tel Aviv, Israël's economic capital and most-requested business destination.

Tel Aviv is a key business destination in the Middle East with an increasing need for connections with Europe. As such, it is SN Brussels Airlines first city to be operated in the region and a new destination to be served by the new fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft.

The new SN Brussels Airlines flights to tel Aviv will operate three times per week from the 4th to 22nd of June and four times per week starting on the 24th of June. Book online at, call our Customer Service Centre or contact your travel agent.

We look forward to welcoming you on board in the very near future.

Yours sincerely

Philip Saunders

Yes, very good news indeed. This would also add aditional feeder to SNBA's european (and to some extent African) network.

I presume they will be night flights, this permitting a greater utilisation of the A319 aircraft, without requiring extra capacity.

What really would get things going is SN Brussels Airlines' own flights to New York. This way they would be able to offer more connecting flights on American Airlines as well as feeding it's African and badly needed boost for it's European network.

I strongly believe that an airline like SNBA needs a strong long haul network to compliment it's European network and in this case the other way around would also be true: The European network would be needed to attract more traffic on it's long haul route. Certainly negotiated deals (code share flights) with other airlines would help in the short run, but eventually (to maintain a presence in the market by visually being present with it's proper brand) it would be best for SN to fly there themselves. Of course that requires money and investment but you can not make money if you don't invest first, can you?

SN is already doing the following promo's to TLV: all fares are without taxes:

x from MUC, THF: €319
x from LHR: €250
x from MAN: €320
x from BRU: €299

Those fares are in direct competition with LH, BA, OK, LY, OA, ... All have about the same fares.
