Boeing 737-500 Delivered To Lithuanian Airlines

Thu May 15, 2003 2:03 am

Yesterday second Boeing 737-500 built in year 1996 was delivered to Lithuanian Airlines. Lithuanian Airlines dryleased two B737-500 planes for five years to change two of their B737-300 planes. LAL also plans to add Vilnius-St. Petersburg direct route and Vilnius-Brusseles was added recently. Because Lithuanian Airlines had over 35 millions profit last year, now it started to rebuild it's fleet and route network which it rmoved in 1998-2001, when the airline was severely hit by Russian crisis.
LAL than abolished the following routes:
Vilnius-Warshaw (remained only in codeshare with LOT)
Vilnius-St. Petersburg (plans to re-add the route now)
Vilnius-Heathrow (transferred to Vilnius-Gatwick)
Vilnius-Madrid (only remains in codeshare with Air France via Paris)
Vilnius-Chicago (was abolished before even taking-off in the crisis of 1998)
And probably a few others.
Hopefully some of these routes will be re-created now as the airline is profitable.
