NZ B767-200 AKL-CHC

Sun May 18, 2003 6:09 pm

Checking the schedules on amadeus, I've noticed there are no B767-200 scheduled between AKL and CHC after 24 Oct. Is the aircraft going to retire after 24 Oct (after the 1st A320 is put into service)?

Anyone has info on when NZ is planning to retire their 762s?

The plan was to retire all 762 by the end of the year. I dont know what aircraft is going to replace the 762 on the AKL-CHC run but I suppose they just fly a 733 instead.

I the the demise was the 762 first was always the plan, as they are the oldest aircraft in the Air New Zealand fleet (ave age approx. 13years old).

Think it will be a while before you see the A320s flying AKL-CHC as they are earmarked for the AKL-SYD run to begin with (so TG992 said on a previous post). Perhaps Q3/4 2004 you might see some scheduled for internal flights as the A320s would have by then arrived in numbers.

742; 744; DC10, DC3, 321, 320, 319, 170,190, 772, 773,333, 346, 343

The 762 average age is more like 17 years! The ones in service NBA, NBB and NBC were delivered in 1985-86!

The A320's I guess like V2fix said will probably start domestic routes late 2004 or so!

I thought I read that the first A320s will be replacing the B762s on Australia and Oceania routes. This may spill-over to the domestic use of B762 as they might not be available due to planes leaving the fleet / non-necessity of schedule ferry flights.
