Very Busy At MSP

Mon May 19, 2003 12:38 am

I've noticed over the past few days that MSP has been extremely busy. Is there something going on!? I've never seen lines that long! Yesterday, 2 A320s that landed had to go by Terminal C and hold for 20 min to wait for an open gate! 12L and 12R was used for landings. 12L must of had something going on on the beginning of the runway, because almost all the aircraft would touchdown about where 4/22 crosses it! They used the whole runway for landing. They also departed not at the beginning, but about 1/4-1/3 down the runway! I thought a DC-9 was going to go over, but it got up at the last second! And then when the runways became too busy, they started using 4/22, they used 22 to depart, and once again, they departed about 1/4-1/3 down the runway! I noticed nothing bigger than an A320 was departing off that runway! MSP was a big mess yesterday! I'm heading down there to check out if it's messy again! Anyone know what's going on!? Seems like good business for NWA, unless all the aircraft are empty.......

Don't know about MSP but flights from DTW are all full--overbooked as a matter of fact.

during the day, look at fly.faa.gov, and you will see that msp has had flow control due to runway construction. today when i looked, msp airport had average delays of 2hr46min with the worst flight being delayed 7hr04min.

One of my flights was cancelled today. A saab from MSP-GFK. I think it was weather related. I got on another flight, but I'm still awaiting my luggage  Sad

Here it is, off the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) website:

Beginning on or about May 5, the northwest 1500 feet of the north parallel runway (30R/12L) will be closed for construction work. Although the project lasts until fall, the 1500-foot runway closure will last approximately 30 days. The shortening of the north parallel runway is required to allow for the installation of approach lights for Runway 12L and also for upgrades to the navigational landing systems for Runway 12L and 30R to be made. During the shortened runway period, there will be 6,650 feet of runway surface available to allow for arrivals and departures. During this 30-day period the airport will operate differently then the normal day-to-day operation. When the weather is cloudy and/or low visibility conditions exist, aircraft can most often be expected to land on runways 12R/12L. In addition there will be extensive use of the crosswind runway (Runway 22) for departing aircraft.

Our MSP flt today 3626 OKC-MSP was delayed I was told it was an ATA Air Traffic Control. Who knows anymore I just put the delayed code I'm given into the Computer. We were only delayed for about 30 mins.

Well in OKC NW flts are filling up fast almost all of the MSP flts leave with maybe a couple of empty seats and the MEM flts are always full with the exception of our 7:09pm flt (3467) we're normally about 3/4 full. I'm glad to see full flts I know we only have ARJ's and CRJ's, but who cares as long as they are full. Maybe we will get our DC9's back.
I don't care who you fly just as long as you fly
