Who Was Flying To Stockholm For Alitalia?

Tue May 20, 2003 9:07 pm

I got the word Alitalia was advertising some low fares to Argentina and I called the local office in Sweden in order to learn more about this offer.

The problem is that there are no Alitalia flights from Stockholm since the Italian airline's partner on this route cancelled all flights.

The Swedish Alitalia homepage still promises flights will restart "in early May" but I just been told there is no solution in sight. I gather the connection has been down since April.

I find it quite amazing that a national carrier as Alitalia can stop flying to a destination in Europe just like that. And who was the failed partner on this route?

Best regards

Thank you, Thomas.

Are they out of business or they just dropped Stockholm?
I visited their website -- http://www.azzurraair.it -- and I found it outdated (last "news" dated Dec 2002).

I guess Alitalia was losing money in Sweden the way they treat this market.
