KE Stopped Code-share Agreements With AC?

Thu May 22, 2003 11:20 pm

I was just looking for flights on KE's website for ICN-YVR and i was surprised that throughout the week there are no flights that are being operated by an AC aircraft. and thus I crossed check with Amadeus and AC website to no avail.

Did they start flying daily on this route now that they do not code share with AC? I flew on this route on KE ticket but AC flight which I would say was much better...

When did they stop their code share? Hope I am wrong...

I have worked for over 1 year and a half with KE in Dallas, but to my knowledge, we never had a code-share with Air Canada. We are part of the SkyTeam Alliance, while Air Canada is a part of Star Alliance with UA. It would seem to make much sense to a code-share on this flight if you ask me.

Airbus Lover, just because it is a KE ticket does NOT mean that it is a code-share flight. I could have a ticket issued on CO for example and still fly a KE flight. Now if the ticket had a KE "flight" number and KE identifier on that leg of the ticket, it is a different story; but I am certain we have never had a code-share with AC. They are Star Alliance.

Jay, I am sure it is a code share flight!

Had KE flight number AND AC flight number on that flight!!! And I still remember one of the F/As was a very hot korean  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Even when making the booking that time my travel agent told me there was such code share. And upon checking on KE's website, this was confirmed,

Now, however, things have been different... But i am sure it was a c-s flight.

I just don't see how it could be a code-share flight with AC part of Star Alliance. I don't think UA would like that very much when they too have service to Asia...............

Korean did codeshare with Air Canada on the YVR-ICN route. Both airlines operate the route, yet Korean also had their flight number on the Air Canada flights. This provided Korean with like 9 flights a week to YVR (I think Korean flies twice weekly). The reason why this has probably stopped is that Asiana is now part of the Star Alliance, and that Asiana will probably start codesharing with Air Canada on the route.

Thanks Spyderz...

But I thought Asiana does not operate into YVR?

KE And AC

Sat May 24, 2003 5:27 am

KE did codeshare with AC, I have worked on that flight before, on a A343 during the summer and B763 for the rest of the year.

Yeah I guess as Asiana just joined Star Alliance, AC dropped the code sharing with KE.

KE / AC

I forget what the flight # KE used for the AC flight 63, but AC definitely used the flight # 5071 for KE's flight #71, which at the time operated twice weekly - Tue/Fri. Now that the single-flight code-share has ended due to OZ entering the star-alliance, KE downgraded to the 772 equipment, but flies 4 times a week now - Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun.
