GULF AIR LAUNCHES PREMIUM SERVICE TO GENEVA

Abu Dhabi Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, is to operate a premium, once-a-week non-stop service to Geneva from it base in Abu Dhabi.

The flights, which commence on 16 June 2003, as part of Gulf Air’s summer schedule, will be operated on the Boeing 737-700 Business Jet that has been configured to offer an exclusively tailored three-class service for VIPs and corporate travellers to one of Europe’s key business destinations.

Geared predominantly to First and Business Class passengers, the flights will depart Abu Dhabi once a week on Thursdays at 11am, returning from Geneva on Fridays.

“Two of Gulf Air’s unique five star chefs have been assigned to oversee the provision of the finest dining in the skies,” explained Michael Kent, Head of In-flight Services at Gulf Air. “ In addition to an excellent, specially created menu, our chefs offer our passengers more choice and, most importantly, personal attention.”

“This service is another innovation in the distinctive suite of products and services we are creating to meet the requirements of the discerning business traveller,” said James Hogan, President and Chief Executive at Gulf Air. “It is a unique concept, that has been evolved after careful research into the demographics of the market, and the needs of the respective segments we serve.”

The introduction of Gulf Air’s service to Geneva follows closely on the announcement at Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, of Business Plus, in which a range of services are combined to offer convenience and style to business travellers in and out of Abu Dhabi. The Business Plus menu includes a ‘meet and greet’ service, fast track immigration and baggage clearance in and out of Abu Dhabi, and the recently introduced Jaguar chauffeur service between Abu Dhabi airport and any destination in the UAE.

From the DPTS website (http://dptsassociation.homestead.com/news.html):

"Announced in a press release on May 25th that it will launch a weekly flight between Abu Dhabi and Geneva on June 19th. Gulf Air will operate a Boeing 737-700 BBJ that has been configured to offer an exclusively tailored three-class service for VIPs and corporate travellers according to the airline's website. Schedules are not yet available but the aircraft should arrive in Geneva at around 1615 every Thursday and return later during the evening. It is not yet confirmed if the aircraft involved is the Royal Jet Boeing 737-700 BBJ A6-RJZ recently delivered or another one.

According to reservation systems, Gulf Air also expects to operate a weekly Airbus A330-200 on the same route every Tuesday between July 8th and September 9th. Schedule would be 1615-2200 (GF021/020)."

Gulf Air already flew here a couple of years ago using A332 equipment. This is great news for Geneva Airport. Emirates is also rumoured to launch service in the next months.
