CO 757 Corporate Shuttle?

Mon May 26, 2003 8:01 am

I don't know if this is a weekly shuttle, but I've seen a Continental 757 flying Luton - Newark. It uses a charter flight number (9000). Could it be a New York area business shuttle? Any ideas?

The callsign was CO9992 by the way.Coming to think of it,the flight may have just been an airtest explaining the amazingly short takeoff run-a much shorter one than the Monarch 757 that took off for the Canaries!

If you could post some of the CO 757 pics, I would be interested in seeing them. It would be something a little different, seeing CO at another UK airport in London (now, we only need them to operate a flight into LCY and LHR!)

Continental were running daily 757 service into Stanstead until just after 9.11. Continental now just gets the heavy checks done on the 757's in Luton, that is why you see them flying about there

Why does Continental perform heavy check on 757s at Luton? Why don't they do them here in the states?

I am assuming it is because it is much cheaper to do them in Luton. It must also be considerably cheaper if they also have to fly the aircraft transatlantic each way to get it to the heavy check. At least when the heavy checks are done on the 777's in Hong Kong, the aircraft takes pax and then goes in for checks and then comes out and works the flight home
