MIA Question

Mon May 26, 2003 10:27 am

I'm flying into MIA this Friday at 8pm to catch a flight to HAV that leaves the next day (Saturday) at 8am. The check-in time for the flight is 4am so this pretty much prevents me from getting a hotel for the night.
What I'm wondering is if anyone knows a great place in the airport to 'crash' and get some sleep. I'm also interested in if the Admirals Club (or any other airline's club) closes and kicks people out after a certain hour. If not, what does the Admirals Club in particular offer in MIA? Thanks in advance.

Despite living here in Miami, I cannot tell you personally what the lounge offers. However, this AA webpage has all the information you need about their Admiral clubs at MIA. There is a closing time (11:30) but for the complete information I'll direct you here. I'd also like to mention that MIA is the last place I would want to spend the night...well terminals A and H are nice but I'm guessing you are not departing from there (unless US Express leaves from H too)...have fun though spotting! Search for some other posts about 'what to do at MIA'....find a nice airport-side place to eat and spot!

There *is* a hotel right there at the airport near Concourse E. I don't have the URL handy, but they do have a web site.

Otherwise, as others have said, Miami's not really conducive to crashing out, since virtually all the seating exists INSIDE security. But there are a few places to sit outside security, if you are serious.

You could stay in the hotel and then check in for your flight and then after check out of the hotel. Here is the website: Rates run from about US$150.00 a night....its also awesome that you are going to Havana...what are you doing there?? I am really jealous..

There is some places to sit in MIA but not great to sleep i say try to take a pillow with you. But by the Iberia Checkin Counter before Security I know there are benches and stuff there. Also a great place to spot. If you need any more questions answered just contact me at bye

What I would do is take one of the free shuttle busses to one of the Days INN hotels. It's only a 5min ride. Price is about $49 and good value for money. To be sure they have rooms available, use one of the free hotel phones at the airport.

The shuttles run all night. But to be sure you will be there at 4am ask somebody at the hotel desk. You can always take a taxi.

8 hours is a long time to be "homeless" in an airport terminal, especially overnight when there is nothing may even have to deal with security issues. I would suggest the Airport hotel, the best of both worlds, you stay at the terminal but have a place to take a short sleep but not deal with leaving the terminal, even if it costs a few dollars more than other accommodation, you can minimize the hassle and maximize your rest time.

There is a "good" place th crash over by the Iberia/Varig counter. There is a large window that overlooks the Continantal Connection (B-1900D) ramp, you can also see the end of 27R, that is the runway that is used late at night.

Take a bus out to South Beach or Coconut Grove... party there... and go back to the airport. Just make sure you don't forget to leave, the party is still jumping at 4am there. Time flies when you are having fun.  Big thumbs up

I stayed at the airport hotel from DFW-ATL-MIA-MBJ. It was an overnight ordeal, it was alright. They had a channel specifically for the airport which showed some cool planes.

I ran into a similar situation last year on a connecting flight from NY to Panama City, Panama. I spent the night in comfort and in a very secure place.
