Airworthy, we departing Van Nuys 16L and maintained 3500' over the LAX
corridor. There's a special transition under the class Bravo airspace and the route is defined on the Los Angeles sectional. We tuned one of the radios to an LAX
tower frequency to monitor departing and arriving traffic. We finally reached Long Beach and spent about 20 minutes doing various maneuvers (turns and stalls). On the return, we complied with restrictions and crossed LAX
at 4500'. I saw a Delta aircraft land on the 25's with an Air Tahiti Nui A343 departing 25R. Next, we overflew UCLA and made a few circles. Finally, on our downwind to VNY
, the tower informed us of traffic as an American M80 passed overhead on approach to BUR
. (That was the most exciting part of the flight!) VNY
was busy today so we were sequenced as #6 for 16R. The tower called our base leg and changed our clearance to 16L. Overall, it was an awesome flight with lots of traffic and smog!
