Flights Within India

Tue Jun 03, 2003 1:01 am

Generally speaking, are most flights within India very full?

What routes used to be operated by are no longer?

Are flights very fuill? Well i think it is a seasonal thing and it also depends on route and time etc.

There used to be a time when a 270 seater A300 used to go out with 120 W/L pax! But now with 4 airlines operating multiple daily flights the average load factor on the Mtero routes (between 9 largest cities) would stand at around 65-70%. Most other routes are even lower.

Some SEcondary Routes like PNQ-BLR see a lot of traffic. IC, S2 and 9W operate daily 737/A320 eqpt, sometimes twice daily, and during some months it is difficult to get a seat!

I would of thought that PNQ was a non-busy airport like Nagpur. I'm guessing w/ flights to/from IXE-BOM are full or GOI-BOM as it is close to the Arabian Sea. BOM-TRV, TRV-MAA- MAA-Port Blair BOM-CCU- and DEL-CCU flights are full right?

TRV MAA no way. It took Jet airways many many years to realise that. They also realised the hard way that the average Indian passenger is not an aviation enthusiast and that if they put an ATR 72 on the route with a departure 5 min after ICs A320 and with the same fares, they wont get many passengers.

Cheers

Every flight between Bombay and Delhi I've been on has been full. I guess thats why the seat pitch on Jet Airways is so tight ! They really pack em in.

Yup... I remember TRV-MAA. We were supposed to fly to MAA and then onto CCU but Jet changed the timings on us. It was supposed to be a 737 too. Oh well but Jet does have great svc.

Service? Maybe in J class, where atleast their seat pitch (38") compares with the IC offering. In Y class, IC offers 32" going up to 34" for some rows in the A320's.

I fyou compare the food service, IC is typically rated no.1 followed now by S2. 9W is possibly the worst in this department.

There is one area where 9W "shortcomings"work to their advantage: and that is in the length of the FA's skirt!
