VLM About To Expand UK Operations?

Thu Jun 05, 2003 11:53 pm

Looks like VLM could be about to launch Newquay-Exeter-LCY, Exeter-AMS services, a new Newquay-MAN service and an enormous increase on the LCY-MAN services from 5 daily (Mon-Fri) to 9 daily (Mon-Fri).

Does this mean that they've found a batch of Fk50s doing nothing or are they about to get a jet fleet allowing them to launch new flights?

Neither nor, me thinks.

They have sufficent Fokker 50 as they have some spare capacity for ad hoc work + the aircraft which was based at MGL until the end of February.

Additionally, as far as I understand it, the route will be operated by VLM Airines on behalf of start-up Air South West, i.e. it will not be a VLM route.

I wonder who will be the "official" operator of NQY-MAN then?

I remember the old Air South West who used Bandeirantes and flew from Plymouth to Cork and Manchester...their callsign was Pirate!
