Unloading Fully-loaded A380?

Fri Jun 06, 2003 7:18 pm

I wonder how long would it takes to load/unload passengers from a fully-loaded A380?

In principle, a very similar time to a fully-loaded 744.

See http://www.airbus.com/pdf/a380/A380_AC.pdf
Section 5-2 has lots of details.

Deboarding an A388 with two bridges: 14 mins.

If you can get hold of a copy of Flight International (20-26 May 2003), there is a fantastic supplement included detailing all aspects of the A380. It covers everything from the concept stage right up to the current build stage. It includes original plans, dimensions, specifications and a large cutaway. It covers everything from the cockpit and avionics, undercarriage, and engines through to safety, preperation for airport introduction and maintenance.

I was obviously aware of the A380, but having read the supplement, it's opened my eyes as to how much an influence this aircraft will be to both the advancement of air transport and technology. Well worth a read!

I can't wait until Jan 2005 to see the worlds most powerful jetliner power down the runway at Toulouse Blagnac airport and lift into the skies. It'll be a major achievment for Airbus.

The necessity to be as compatible with 747-400 ground operations is the primary reason why Airbus designed the very front doors of the main deck of the A380-800 so when you enter the plane through these doors it leads to the wide stairway that accesses the upper deck. That way, when an A388 parks at the gate that only has one level of jetwalks the front jetwalk is used to access the upper deck and the rear jetwalk is used to access the main deck.
