Boeings In USAirways Fleet

Sun Jun 08, 2003 2:27 pm

How much longer will the Boeing aircraft remain in USAirways fleet? I beleive they started selling them a while ago, but can anyone tell me about how much longer they'll remain in the fleet? Thanks!

I'd look for the newer 737's to be in the fleet for quite some time

The 11 767-200ERs left in the fleet will probably be gone in 2006-7 as the A330-200s are delivered. The 757-200s have more life to them as far no public plans to replace them with 321s anytime soon. The 737-300/400s have several more years with them. U has actually pulled some out of the desert to replace A-320s that they rejected the leases on. However, Dave has gone on record saying he is looking at the Embraer 190/195 to replace the 737 on the shorter routes...and essentially replace them in the system as well. The sticking point is that they must keep the mainline iron at 279 aircraft...and I doubt the chest thumping ALPA will allow the 190/195s to be counted in that total.

They parked 2 757s in the desert, along with some 737s...I'm not sure if the 757s will be coming back into service, but as Ouboy said, some 737s are on the way back. There was also a thread on here recently about a 733 & 734 being broken up & they were built in 1988, so I'm not sure how new is "new".

Does USAirways plan on giving their old 737s semi-glass panels, or just leaving them how they are? (unless some have semi-glass already)
