First Pictures Of Zoom Airlines

Tue Jun 10, 2003 6:39 am

Here are the first pictures of the newest Canadian airline Zoom.
The a/c is still wearing French reg but has the Canadian flag by it.
Also, the a/c is named "City of Ottawa"
The paint scheme is not that far off Zips colors.
Enjoy!

Wow, much better than the Monarch rip-off they had for the first year!

Bravo!

Well, I'm not as positive as Dripstick. I think it looks a bit like the TUI livery... it's something to scare the flies away...

According to their website, they will have departures out of Hamilton, Ottawa, and Halifax to Southern destinations.

According to the picture from the link, it's a 767-328. That means the aircraft comes from Air France. I know Air France is getting rid of its 767's but I didn't know where those were going to, now I see where they continue to fly. Yes, it's true, its color scheme is similar to that of the TUI livery.
Nice picture!  Smile

Their web site was never updated. They will not be flying at all from YHM, YOW and YHZ this summer. They will be flying to England from YEG, YVR and YYZ.

They will be back to YOW for the winter season to southern destinations. I know for a fact that the only southern destination they will not operate will be Orlando. They are looking for another carrier to operate the flights to MCO starting this fall. B-767's will not suit the YOW/YHZ to MCO market. Too many seats.

I work in YOW and that's where they are based. The chief dispatcher is a good friend of mine. I will ask her. I will get back to you.

Hmmm...the logo is fairly (maybe appropriately) acceptable, however, I submit that the "wrong" blue seems to subconsciously suggest that maybe they sort of bought what was left "on the shelf"...Jack

Better than the "make shift" livery they came up with when leasing the A-320 from Monarch.

TUI? Some airline from a little place called Europe... And we mock Americans for being world-ignorant!  Laugh out loud

The Zoom 763 does look eerily similar to Zip - way more so than TUI!

FYI, TUI is actually one of the world's largest, if not the largest, tourism company in the world, owning nearly 3700 travel agencies in Europe. TUI is German-based, I think. It has up to about 88 aircraft and has taken over several European airlines, which explains why Britannia, Hapag-Lloyd Flug and a few others now have that same blue c/s. It's not as well known outside Europe.

Here's a pic of a 767 in TUI colors:

But I think the Zoom color scheme looks more like Zip's.

The blue color looks sweet! I thought of the Britannia scheme as well!

Looks sharp.....nice logo. Anyway, this is the 1st I've heard that Zoom will fly from YYZ. When is the aircraft due in Canada?

AF just retired the last 763 from its fleet a few weeks ago.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Very nice, thanks for the pics! I like the livery. So it seems like the 767 is permanent in the fleet? I am looking forward to seeing them at YYZ.

Any word on the inflight service?

Hi Nuno,

They offer very basic hot meals. Free wine with the meals, cash bar for other alcoholic beverages. No duty free offered. They use all of the old QN dishes and trays.

They use the old QN dishes and trays? No way! You mean the casserole dishes, that say Royal on them??? If so, that's interesting, and it is nice to have a dish, as opposed to a foil plate.

I guess the service is the typical charter service, which isn't too bad. Any word on the seating arrangement? Namely, will it be 2-3-2 or 2-4-2?

Thanks for the reply, aviationman.

Nuno, sorry, I should have been more specific. They do not use the QN ceramic dishes. They use generic aluminum casseroles. Only the dishes (salad, dessert bowls, coffee cups....white and navy funny shaped ones) and meal trays are ex QN.

Ok, that makes more sense. Michel Leblanc probably uses the QN ceramic dishes at home when he has big parties.  Big grin

I wish Zoom success, but it should be interesting, as Zoom is new on the scene, we also have HMY who are very quiet as of late, Canada West probably still wants to start one day, and Transat and Skyservice are seeing a drop in business. Very interesting times in the Canadian charter market.
