Booking Online, Ordering Special Meals.

Thu Jun 12, 2003 4:27 pm

On the shuttle to the parking lot tonight after work, I overheard some AA pax who were talking about the food they had on their flight from JFK tonight. I was trying to figure out if they were in 1st class or not. She was mentioning how she always orders "Asian Vegitarian". When you book a first class ticket as opposed to a coach ticket online, are you offered a wider selection of special meals? She was describing some rice, blackbeans, some white cake, veggies...and whatnot.

I will never forget, about 2 years ago, I was flying with my mom on Northwest SEA-DTW. She had, for the first time, bought our tickets online and ordered herself a "Kosher" meal. I didn't know it, but all these years, she has thought "Kosher" meant healthy, like health food, which she likes. Before the meal service, the flight attendant came by with her "Kosher" meal which consisted of a thing of water, carrot sticks and some dry bread with lettuce, sprouts and tomatoes. It was awful and she couldn't figure out what had just happened. The flight attendant and I explained exactly what had just happened...  Big thumbs up

That is too funny...

I would think you are allowed the same selection of special meals in coach and 1st, but I could be wrong. I have never purchased a ticket online-

I know KLM doesn't give the option to reserve them online but you can call up to 48 hours (I think, maybe 24) before departure and they'll arrange it for you.

Same selection in all classes (economy and world business class), but of course the meals will be different.
I wish I were flying
