DOT Statistics Needed

Fri Jun 13, 2003 1:20 pm

I was wondering if anyone had a link regarding daily traffic statistics between certain city pairs? IE, there are 1200 passengers flying between PVD and MCO every day...that sort of thing. It would be a big help. Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm trying to piece together a report on some routes which really need nonstop service and this info will be most valuable.

Have a nice evening!
Sorry I moved from SXM, looking for a new house on Anguilla now!

Maybe DOT can give you that, or else airports and airlines.
Especially airlines will likely guard such information closely as it's valuable for their business plans.
I wish I were flying

Try the DOT Domestic Air Fares report. Lists the top 1000 city pairs and includes average daily passengers as well as average fare and top carrier's market share. Unfortunately, it runs about a year behind so the newest would be Q2 2002.

All of the DOT statistics can be found in:
http://transtats.bts.gov

I think the closest database that you are looking for is the T-100 domestic market database. However, it collects numbers monthly, not daily. Check it out!

For some reason the site seems to be offline at the moment. Once it comes back up, I believe you will find more information at the following link, downloadable in spreadsheets by Year rather than Quarter...

http://ostpxweb.dot.gov/aviation/aptcomp/aptcompdata.htm

You will find 4 tables for each calender year:

Table 1 - Air Carrier Detail by Airport (Total Passengers, Average Fare, Revenue, RPMs, Avg Nonstop Distance, and Passenger Mkt Share)

Table 2 - Fare Data by Airport (# of City-Pairs, Passengers, Revenue, Yield, and Avg Nonstop Trip Length; further sub-categorized into Short/Long Haul)

Table 3 - Airport-Pair Detail (Airport-Pair, Density, Competitors, Low-Fare/Non-Low-Fare, Zero-Fared Pax, Total Pax, Revenue, RPMs, and Nonstop Distance)

Table 4 - Airport-Pair by Carrier (Airport-Pair, Carrier, Mkt Share, Low-Fare/Non-Low-Fare, Zero-Fared Pax, Total Pax, Revenue, RPMs, Nonstop Distance, and Density)

The DOT's database is at: http://transtats.bts.gov.
Don't include the www.!

Follow the links to aviation and you will find a lot of interesting information. Have fun!
