I was on a Tu-154 from KBP-SVO that lacked the neccessary equipment, to make hot tea or coffee, that was quite something...I read about it on the Aeroflot Forums, but I never experienced it..
Was it that hard to stick a hot pot in?
I've been on many TU-154 flights and as far as I remember, hot drinks were always available.
Should say though, I did get a hot beer once! I was told the fridge was out of order. What the hell!!! One less cold beer wouldn't do no harm
Well I've never flown on a Tupolev but I must point out that this has nothing to do with the fact it's a Russian aircraft. It can happen also on a Western built airliner like Ray Pettit mentions.
Chances are if you fly again on a TU-154, it won't happen again. You'll get all the service you deserve.
I was on a West European flag carrier a few weeks ago on an A320 and I was really disappointed with the inflight service. I know that some CIS carriers are doing a lot better with their Tu-154s and Tu-134s.
The hot beer happened to me only ONCE on an Armenian Airlines Tu-154 flight and I strongly believe that it was the fault of the crew and not the plane or the fridge.
I regularly fly TU5 (about 10 times a year) and for the last four years, I have never, ever, experienced anything like that. I have flown Aeroflot's, Sibir, Kras Air, Pulkovo, you name it and whether it was regular or charter service, I have always had hot meals and drinks.
