I flew Ethiopian back in 1992 from JIB to DIR and then to ADD on a B-727. I was on transit to NBO and, since there were not connecting flights on the same day, they put me in the Addis Ababa Hilton for that night (price was included in the air fare).
I got to tour around a little bit the Ethiopian capital and headed to the airport the next morning. The flight to NBO was overbooked and the check-in counter was quite a chaos scene. I was almost left out of the plane, but I was eventually given a First Class seat. The ride to NBO on a B-757 was very nice. Food was superb, and service really good (of course it was First Class...
). The plane was in a very good condition, and I had a very nice impression of the ADD airport. I think they recently built a new terminal there, so it should be still better now.
Ethiopian people... great people!!!
