Cathay Pacific To Restore All Flights By September

Tue Jun 24, 2003 3:37 am

According to Cathay Pacific’s most recent press release & along with the WHO declaring Hong Kong SARS-free, they are going to restore their flight schedule to pre-SARS levels by September. CX will restore 170 weekly flights in July & operate about 90% of regular services in August and the entire schedule will be back to normal & back to pre-SARS levels by the end of September. They have handled this crisis superbly (as the whole of Hong Kong has) considering they, along with Dragonair, were in the possible position (HK second hardest hit by SARS, no domestic traffic to ease the losses, etc.)

Furthermore, they will be giving away 10,000 free tickets!!

Very good news for CX! It's always good to hear of someone pulling out of a slump. It's also good news for the industry as a whole.

Congrats, all you CXers... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

News I am very glad to hear and so far without any staff retrenchments. Full credit to Cathay and its staff. An Airline further south could learn a lot from your example  Smile

Likewise, there is much CX could learn from Singapore Airlines when it comes to route expansion & capturing international traffic (in coordination with the HK Government, like SIA’s coordination with the Singaporean Government when negotiating air services agreements).

CX should be about 10 times bigger than it actually is……
