Thankyou Southwest! Way To Go

Tue Jun 24, 2003 10:24 am

On my business ethics class in the American University in DC, the professor asked us to identifiy a specific company and discuss their social issue and how they are involved with the society and what incidents that have happend and almost destroyed their image. we chose southwest, me and my group. the paper went along fine. however, tomorrow is the presentation, on a short notice, i drove an hour from northern VA to BWI less than 24 hours before the presentation is due. as soon as i told them i am a student and showed them the written part of the project, immediatly i was escorted through security with a customer service supervisor, i got all these stacks of napkins, snacks and plastic cups that has southwest logo on them, and the nice attitude from the employees, i was even taken on board of one of the airplanes before it boarded just to pickup couple of peanuts. Wow.. that is really amazing for a company to be such a wonderful and helpful company. Way to go southwest!

What incidents have almost destroyed their image?
Last year 1,944 New Yorkers saw something and said something.

SouthWest is aweseom

Any airline that lets me buy a ticket, 2 hours before my departure (MCI-STL) on a full flight for only $75 just ROCKS!

we are talking in our presentation on how media just bashed southwest when they required an over weight passenger to purchase another seat. the media focused on southwest, but all airlines beleive it or not have the same exact policy.

Another thing that really impresses me about Southwest is how many of their employees volunteer their time in local communities, whether it is the local Ronald McDonald House, a pilot reading stories to kids in a local school library, etc. Southwest has a ton of volunteers giving back to their communities.
