A CHINA Southern Airlines (belongs to Northern Branch, ex-China Northern Airlines) flight skidded off a runway in north-eastern China, closing the airport for several hours, the official Xinhua News Agency reported today.
The accident happened yesterday when the McDonnell Douglas MD-82 passenger jet attempted to land at Dalian's Zhoushuizi airport in heavy rain, Xinhua said.
No one was injured.
The plane, on a flight from Shanghai, stopped about 20 metres from the runway, the report said.
The airport reopened late last night.
Xinhua did not say how many people were on the flight.
An MD-82 belonging to China Northern Airlines crashed into the sea off Dalian in May 2002, killing all 112 people on board. The crash was later blamed on a passenger who lit a fire.
