All White 757-200 At Vancouver Intl.!

Fri Jun 27, 2003 2:41 am

On June 24, a mysterious all white painted B757-200 was parked at the US terminal. Registration number - N253CT. Looks like an US reg?! Could this be a new delivery of some sort? Does anybody have any info/guess on where this plane may go to?

Thanks Aero Sales. So this might be the HMY's third 757-200 aircraft more likely to be used on Vancouver to Los Angeles starting August 01!

Now let's clear this up a bit. On their web side (main page) http://www.hmyairways.com/ it says that they will start YVR-LAX on June 27, 2003 while on the schedule page http://www.hmyairways.com/schedules.html the same flight is listed as starting August 01, 2003 ?!!

This new plane (currently all white) leased from CIT Aerospace needs an HMY livery paint so . . .
I assume that it's not gonna start flying to Los Angeles tomorrow . . . June 27, but rather August 01.

The other 2 aircraft are busy flying Toronto (13 weekly) and Vegas 2 weekly while Los Angeles runs are said to be 10 weekly.

If you look at their scheds, it is possible for the 2 752s to run their entire summer schedule, unless one plane should go tits up. But we shall see.

Also located on HMY's website is a short news brief about how they've signed a Bilateral Interline Traffic agreement with China Airlines. No details were released, yet I guess it marks the beginning of their foray into Asian service.

Very good point Rindt. Indeed HMY could fly all three destination YYZ, LAS, LAX with only 2 aircraft. I would agree though that the schedule it's very tight and if one flight gets delayed for any reason, everything else could go haywire. I still remember the days when travelers were supposed to call in Canada 3000 and Airtransat to find out what time of the day their flight will eventually take off. People shouldn't put up with that crap anymore. That's probably why HMY wisely decided to delay their YVR-LAX run to August 01. Wonder what other destinations are they contemplating once the third aircraft will become operational.
In my opinion The Bilateral Interline Traffic agreement with China Airlines it's definitely a much better approach to HMY's Asian market ambitions, at least for the time being. It makes a lot of sense to fly travelers on behalf of CI beyond Vancouver to various Canadian and US destinations and viceversa.

Got my first view of an HMY 757 last night here at YYZ. Call sign harmony. Didn't get the reg.#, tho. Not bad looking livery.
Wonder if there was ever any talks with Transat to take over their 757s...

Interesting about the CI agreement. I too think it would be risky for HMY to acquire larger aircraft to fly trans-Pacific, and it's a better strategy to at least in the beginning get into an agreement with an airline currently doing the service. If they see demand increasing or warranting the acquisition of dedicated aircraft, then maybe it could work out. For the sake of all involved, I hope HMY will be here for the long-run.

In the mean time, any word on Canada West Airlines? Their website still says "Look for us in spring 2003." I'm looking, and I don't see them!
