KLM Cityhopper UK Winter

Fri Jun 27, 2003 7:35 pm

There will be several changes to KLM's UK regional operations for the coming winter season, they are as follows;

ABZ - 737, 737, 737
EDI - 100, F70, 100, 100, F70
GLA - 100, F70, 100, 100
NCL - 100, 100, 100, 100, 100
MME - F70, F70, F70
HUY - F70, F70, F70, F50
LBA - 100, 100, 100
NWI - F50, F70, F70, F50
MAN - 737, 100, 737, 100, 100, 100
BHX - 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, F70
BRS - F70, F70, F70, F50
CWL - F70, F70, F70, F70
LCY - F50, F50, F50, F50, F50

Major changes include the reduction of services from Edinburgh and Manchester and the increase in available seats from Aberdeen, Humberside and Norwich by way of using larger aircraft.

The 737 will be used regularly for the first time since KLM handed over their Manchester-Amsterdam service to what was then AirUK several years ago. The winter also sees the introduction of more Fokker70 jet services from many UK airports.

Regards

Mike

When I last looked at their MAN timetable (12th June), there were 8 daily services. Perhaps we may find easyJet out-performing MAN on the northwest England-AMS route?

Anyone know what type of 737 it will be? Are 737 going to be added to the Cityhopper fleet or will this merely be a loan from KLM mainline? And does this mean that for the first time, Business class will be available? Maybe they will have better reliability on the ABZ run than I have experienced in the past...

Would say that they will be 737-300s.

Most probably the -300 version but they might throw in the -400 version now and then. Seats are usually snapped up quickly.

Remarkable everyone is looking for efficient 70-100 seat solutions. Em170/190, 717, etc ..

KLM operates modern F70/F100 fleet for yrs and still buys extra aircraft to expand ..

Probably would have had good sales in current market situation ...

"And does this mean that for the first time, Business class will be available?"

No, it does not, because KLM have abolished C class on intra-European flights from June 1. They now offered some sort of hybrid product, imaginatively called "Europe Select". It is best described as a "full-fare Y class".
