Airline W/ Most Aircraft Into An Airport?

Mon Jun 30, 2003 2:13 am

What airline brings the most amount of aircraft types into an airport?

Like at LGA, US Airways Express operates 8 different aircraft in and out, making it the winner for this airport.

my guess is that Delta brings more a/c into ATL than any other airline/airport combination.

At CLE that'd be Continental. B1900s, All ERJs, All 737s -300 and up, MD-80s, and 757s. Plus the occasional visitor 777.

Yeah, hooper, thats what I was thinking. List them.

Is this right?:

762
763
764
772
MD-80
CRJ
733
738
752

That's 9. Are there more?

What about US Airways hubs?

If you really want to be specific with DL mainline in ATL:

732
733
738
M88
752
762A
763A
763ER
764ER
M11
772ER

That's 11. And then there are the regionals as well.

For UA at ORD:

733
735
A319
A320
752
762A
763A
763ER
772A
772ER
744A

Same number.

Then of course, there's CO at IAH:

733
735
73G
738
739
752
753
762ER
764ER
772ER

With 1 fewer type than the first two  Big grin

Wow, someone from my home airport!

I didn't realize that DL Connection flew ERJs here too. Where do they fly them to?

I would have to agree though, that Delta/Delta Connection in ATL would have to have the most types. However, AA at DFW might give it a run for its money.

Would like to see that analysis...

my guess is that Delta brings more a/c into ATL than any other airline/airport combination

Try Air Canada and Toronto. Not counting Jazz they operate 11 different types :

CRJ
732
319
320
321
333
343
762
763
744
74E

Compare that to Delta and Atlanta where excluding DLC planes you have 10 types :

732
733
738
752
762
763
764
772
M11
M88

Also look at KLM and Amsterdam where excluding Cityhopper you have 11 variants :

733
734
738
739
742
743
744
74D
74M
763
M11

Even Continental and either Newark/Houston gives you 11 variants excluding XJT :

733
735
73G
738
739
752
753
762
764
772
M80

I'm not going to sit and do the math with LH/FRA or AF/CDG or even BA/LHR but I'm sure we will see similar numbers.

A320-200
A320-100
A319

but i think Air France at CDG wins...

747-400
747-300
747-200

I think the orriginal question wasnt asking for the most most types in the world, but for the most at an individual airport.

Like the most at my old home airport DTW would be Northwest with

747-200
747-400
757-200
757-300
A319
A320
DC-9-15
DC-9-30
DC-9-40
DC-9-50
DC-10
coming this summer

A330-200
A330-300

Northwest Airlink
ARJ-85
CRJ-200
Saab 340

At my new home airport MCO it would have to be Delta

737-200
737-300 (occassionally)
737-800 (occassionally)
757-200
767-200
767-300
767-400
777-200
MD-80
MD-90
MD-11 (occassionally)

DL Express
CRJ-200
ERJ-135
ERJ 145

ATL now gets MD90's, so 11

NOW, Comair and ASA are owned by Delta, so add CRJ EM2, AT7, CR7 and you get 15

Actually, I misread the question. I thought you were talking about total number of aircraft, but now that I re-read your post, clearly you're talking about aircraft types

I guess it would have been more fun if the question would have been cut down to most types to non-hub destinations of a certain airline. Because the more diversitive fleet an airline has, the more types will buzz around their hub...

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to mess the game here but maybe we could imply this non-hub feature yet...
