AirTran Orders 50 Boeing 737-700/800

Tue Jul 01, 2003 9:30 pm

While I have not seen an official press release from either Boeing or AirTran, today's Seattle Times is reporting that AirTran will be buying 50 Boeing 737-700/800 (doesn't give exact breakdown), plus another 50 options.

How many of you are now vying to be the one to 'break the story'?

Geez, can't you even keep it on your pants until the official release is out?

That's what I always expected. The two A320 from Ryan were only used to provoke Boeing in order to get a better deal. But hell, what's about the B717?

Boeing only sells the little birds.

Good news for Seattle of cause, but the 737 line is the only one that needed push. I read somewhere that a few 717s are also to be ordered. Is that true?

But. no one to save the 757 from dying in 2 or 3 years?

I think the days of new B757 rolling out are almost over. The -200 is definitely dead, however there's still some little hope left for the -300. AA, UA and DL would have been certain customers for the -300, but the events of the past two years killed that option.
