Anyone Travelled By Syrian Airlines?

Tue Jul 01, 2003 11:47 pm

How are they? does their service differ on the sectors operated? how are the crew? uniforms? IFE and aircraft interiors?

I once flew domestically with them a very long time ago, maybe in 1990, between Damascus and Aleppo.
I know a freind who took Syrian a few years ago to London. He complained of too many stops. That's all I know.

I read that, do you really believe it?
He sounds so rude towards "villagers" of his own people. I also don't believe that flight attendants would behave that way, not that I give two shits about Syrian Air.

What do you think Airmale? I don't buy it myself.

Sounds a bit exagerated, the village people bit may sound rude but its very true for this part of the world.

I found that account deeply offensive.

"Some insane language"? Since it was Syrian Airlines, the language used would have been either Arabic or English - hardly "insane" on either account.

If it was a failed attempt at speaking Hindi, then at least it was an attempt.

And if the passengers were all "illiterate villagers" then (a) how did he know they were illiterate and (b) how could they afford to fly?

I've flown Syrian from London to Damascus, and while it wouldn't be my first choice of airline, it wouldn't be my last.

cheers

He sounds like some idiot kid who doesn't know better - or expected a Concorde experience for a low fare.

Alot of poor people from South Asia work as labourers, servants etc in the Gulf, thats how they get to fly.

Airmale:

I'm aware of that. I once flew with Iraqi Airways from Bangkok via Bombay to Baghdad, and there were a lot of "guest workers" going to work in Iraq.

Their behaviour was good throughout the flight. I spoke to a couple sitting next to me, and, yes, while it's possible they were technically illiterate, in they sense that they couldn't write, I didn't ask, so I have no idea if they were actually illiterate or not.

But they were perfectly fine as travelling companions. Far better than some "literate" Europeans I've encountered.

cheers

Everyone seems to have posted regarding that thread, so who else has flown on RB?
