Airline Screensavers

Fri Jul 04, 2003 7:33 pm

Does anyone have some suggestions on where to find airline screensavers? The SN Brussels site has a decent one, and the South African Airways site has several nice ones to download. I remember a year or two ago KLM and NW had a screensaver which plotted their flights around the globe a la ATC. Unfortunately I didn't save it and I lost that one when my last computer crashed for the final time. Anyone have any leads to other cool airline screensavers? (From now on everything is going on a disc!)

Korean Air's Blue Print and Star Alliance are my favourite:

You can always create your own using images from Airliners.net and the "My Pictures Slideshow" screensaver included in some Windows operating systems.

The one that Tekelberry has suggested is the best, it turns out fabuous, I saw it on some one's comuter, think he had a thousand images from a.net. Windows XP has the 'My Pictures Slideshow'.

I´ve WEBSHOTS for years now: 8000 photo´s from airliners.net and other recourses sliding with different fade-options through your screen. Very nice. Go to http://www.webshots.com for the program. (its small, for free and very nice!!)

Actaually what I saw was webshots too and not the slideshow from Windows. I also have a question regarding 'webshots', what format photos of a.net do they accept? will the medium do? or will the program automatically enlarge it? what about the large format photos? do they come out full? I dont want parts of the photos to be cut off.

In addition to the ones mentioned above, I have downloaded airline screensavers from the following over the years, not sure if all of them are still available on the individual airlines' sites:

Sky Team, BWIA, Virgin Atlantic, KLM/NW (comes with the worldwide timetable), Gulf Air (new color scheme available), ANA, LanChile, Lufthansa, TAP Air Portugal, Alitalia, Cathay Pacific, Varig, Avianca (This one is from long time ago).

Somewhat related, on MacOS X you can have your desktop background cycle through a directory full of pictures automatically. I just download pix from a.net into a folder, and every five minutes the background changes to a different picture. I'm sure something similar exists int he Windows world too. One nice thing I like about this feature is that it preserves the correct aspect ratio of the pictures, scaling and cropping as needed (since hardly any pictures are exactly 4:3 or 16:10).

Hi,

on www.luchtzak.be you can find a few in the Downloads-area. You will need to register first, but it's a free registration!

ciao,

Bart
