LGA Wins Top Honor In Competition For Food And Bev

Mon Jul 07, 2003 12:58 am

For the second time in three years, LaGuardia Airport captured first place in food and beverage concessions in the annual Airports Council International-North America Richard A. Griesbach Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest. LaGuardia Airport’s Central Terminal Building took top prize for Best Food and Beverage Program at a large airport, judged by experts in the food and beverage, retail and marketing fields.

LaGuardia competed against more than 20 airports from major cities across North America, including Boston, Norfolk, Portland, Toronto and Vancouver.

The award is also a tribute to MarketPlace Development, Inc., which was chosen by the Port Authority in 1994 to lead an $18 million retail and concessions program at LaGuardia.

MarketPlace Development’s successful partnership with the Port Authority has transformed the Central Terminal Building into a premier dining and shopping destination for millions of customers.

This honor is the latest in a string of major awards for LaGuardia Airport. Earlier this year, Figs restaurant in the Central Terminal Building received top honors for Best Airport Food and Beverage Operator in the prestigious Airport Revenue News Best Concessions annual competition.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operates some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the region. They include John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International, LaGuardia and Teterboro airports; the George Washington Bridge; the Lincoln and Holland tunnels; the three bridges between Staten Island and New Jersey; the PATH rapid-transit system; the Downtown Manhattan Heliport; Port Newark; the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal; the Howland Hook Marine Terminal on Staten Island; the Brooklyn Piers/Red Hook Container Terminal; and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan. The agency also owns the 16-acre World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. The Port Authority is financially self-supporting and receives no tax revenue from either state.

It's also a nice place to spot.  Smile

That's really neat. Too bad it wasn't Brooklyn National Deli, now I really liked their sandwiches and breakfast. The staff and manager were courteous and respectful to it's customers and when I wanted something changed they were happy to do it. Also dibs to the seating too! it's nice and with those big glass windows you can see the AA, ME, TZ, UA and NK's planes at their gates there and some of the other ones taxiing to the runway.

They have done an excellent job renovating the Central TerminalBuilding at LGA, especially with the lower level food court (great views).

However the prices at OUTRAGEOUS, it's rediculous what a hot dog and soda costs.
