"unidentified" Boeing Order For 16 737's, 8 767's

Anyone care to speculate who has placed an order this week for 24 Boeings. Would it possibly be part of the long awaited TUI Order for 60+ airframes.

Also on a side note, why are some orders "unidentified"...ta

hey,

speaking about "unidentified" plane orders....who do you guys think purchased 10 erj 190s (i think its 190s - correct me if im wrong) recently from embraer? I think its alitalia!!

Didnt think the TUI order was going to be until- at the earliest- late this year.
I suspect the now strong German influence will swing the TUI order in favour of Airbus. A330 and A320/21's the likely candidates. All very well the 7E7 and 764, but what about the the smaller capacity aircraft required. Suppose the 739 is an option.
We will wait. Dont think the unidentified orders are from TUI though , all just speculation.

That Embraer 190 order is almost certainly for Copa Airlines (and not Gulf Air has previously mentioned).

As for the unidentified Boeing order, it is probably multiple customers. It is very unlikely to be TUI which will place a 50+ plane order.

I think the German side of TUI will prefer Boeing. Considering that Hapag-Lloyd Flug was launch customer of the 737-800 and now has roughly 30 frames of it.
I do agree with this concerning a larger aircraft though. But this again isn't a German think to prefer the model which is simply 15 years younger.
The A330 has in the past years gained quite a lot against the 767 and not only in Germany...

As far as I am aware the TUI order is still expected later in the year and I don't think this is it.

Airbus is preferred for longhaul (A332). Shorthaul therefore, A320/321 would fit nicely, but for capacity required for UK ops (BY) the A321 would be necessary and that doesn't work @ LBA for a start.

The Boeing downside is that the 767-400 won't make LGW-SFB with a full load without stopping for fuel  Insane and so a 737NG / 764 fleet won't work either.

In the short term I can see the BY operation getting A330-200s for longhaul and keeping a 752/763 shorthaul mix for now.

Time will tell. Still preparing myself for a conversion to sidestick though...
