DL And US Swapping RJs?

Thu Jul 10, 2003 7:32 am

To me it's weird, maybe it's old news.....

...but I know Delta Connection received its first ERJ-145 last October 22, but I haven't seen it until last week coming into LGA.

And jsut an hour ago, I saw US Airways Express flying a CRJ into LGA.

I'm used to seeing the opposite. Weirded me out.

When did US get the CRJs?

Where are both airlines flying these planes?

The USAirways Express CRJ's you are seeing at LGA belong to Midway. Mesa also operates some CRJ's for USAirways Express. Chautauqua operates ERJ's for both Delta and USAirways. That is the ERJ you were seeing in Delta colors. I know it is confusing.

Sorry I forgot to answer the second part of you question. The Delta ERJ's go from LGA to CMH. The USAirways CRJ 's go everywhere. RDU, SAV, PHL, YUL, etc.

Chautagua Airlines is flying the ERJ's under the Delta Connection colors, they started after they quit flying as America West Connection. They also fly under US Air Express and American Eagle Connection with the ERJ's.

Chautauqua is flying Delta Connection flights out of MCO to various cities. Mesa is flying CRJs for US Airways Express (I know they are flying them out of ATL, I've seen two of them. One is white except for the US Airways tail {minus the flag}, the other I saw was in full US Airways Express livery, it looked really good).

Yes, yes, I know the Delta Connection ERJ ops are being run by Chautauqua. If you wanna get technical, I can mention that they received 15 37-seat ERJ-135s and 7 50-seat ERJ-145s, with options for another 30, but I won't go into such detail. lol

But, it is only recently (I don't know when) that DLC started letting Chaut into LGA. Since last summer, ACA got cut for LGA ops, and it was only Comair here for a bit.

I wasn't sure who was running US Airways' regional ops though. Thanks for the info!  Smile

Chautauqua is now operating both LGA-CMH and LGA-IND for Delta
(3 each). The aircraft are a mix of new and former HP Express.
The only market for US (Midway) CRJ service from LGA is RDU,
3 per day.
