Whatever it was hopefully wasn't too serious. The airport was reopened around 1205 EDT.

Just saw that updated.. They still have 14-32 closed.

I think one of those runways has been NOTAMed closed for a while now.. not sure off the top of my head if it was 14/32..

Given the lack of media coverage over the last couple of hours, I'd guess it waa a small general aviation aircraft (and not an airliner) with minor (if any) injuries...

1-19 and associated navaids have been notamm'd since early June, IIRC...

Found a media article on it http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030712/nysa015_4.html

Pilot was the only one on board, reports minor to moderate injuries. The plane, a Piper Apache, reported "problems" shortly after becoming airborne.
